Retainers

Congratulations! You did it! We are PROUD of you!

Now we have to work together to stabilize the results of treatment. Retainers prevent the teeth from moving back to their original positions. You will need to wear the retainer to maintain tooth alignment.

What we will do:

What we will do is provide you with retainers for the upper and lower arches. We will carefully supervise the wear and care of your retainers for approximately the first two years of your retention. This is included in your original investment.

If your retainers are lost or broken, it is imperative that you have an immediate replacement. Otherwise, your teeth will shift. Please be aware that there is an additional investment for lost or broken retainers.

Working together, we can get the maximum lifetime benefits from your investment of time and effort.

We will schedule the necessary appointments, so that your perfect smile can be maintained.

Also, monitoring the development of the wisdom teeth is very important; we will keep you and your dentist advised.

What you need to do:

Return to your family dentist for an examination and cleaning. Brush and floss thoroughly every day to protect your beautiful smile.

Wear your retainer every single night or when advised to wear. This retainer fits your teeth like a pair of gloves that fit your hands. Retainers prevent teeth from moving back to their original position. Your teeth will move if the retainer is not worn as instructed. Certain types of retainers will need to be worn 24 hours; you will be instructed if yours is this type of retainer.

Take care of your retainer. You should clean them with cool water (hot water can distort the retainer), mouthwash and a toothbrush. Do not use toothpaste as it can "dull" clear retainers. When not wearing the retainer, store it in the case provided. Don't wrap the retainer in a napkin because there is a chance that it could be thrown away by accident. Keep your retainers out of the reach of a dog as they will eat through the case just to get to the retainers. Should you lose or break your retainer, please call us immediately. The teeth will move if the retainer or retainers are not worn.

Note: Retainers are fragile and are costly to replace; therefore, always remember to keep your retainer in your case when not being worn.
